Vision Weekend 2025

9/4/2025 -

The church is an embedded representation of the gospel. We are an outpost of the Kingdom making disciples, and as we stand up First Pres for the future, we are standing up an emblem of God’s own heart to seek and to save the lost of Colorado Springs. The gospel rings out from a strong, vital church. Our First Pres Forward campaign sets the stage for years of faithfulness to come. It is our full intent to stand as an enduring, embedded model of God’s love.

Belong

"When people visit a church, within the first minute they want to know three things: (1) Who are you? (2) What are you doing? (3) How could I be a part of it? In short, people want to know if this is a place where they can belong and matter. A large church like ours faces challenges helping people feel at home quickly. We invite you to Belong at First Pres in three steps: (1) Find Your Pattern. (2) Find Your People. (3) Find Your Place. Actually, this is the way people have joined up with the church from the beginning.

In the Face of Jesus

According to Galatians 5, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. As you follow Jesus, His Holy Spirit is at work in you bringing those nine characteristics to ripen. He is doing that so that your life more accurately reflects the life and character of Jesus. Doesn’t it stand to reason that we should find these nine characteristics on full display in the life and ministry of Jesus? All the fruit of the Spirit is found In the Face of Jesus.

In a Spirit of Prayer

We would all agree that God is powerful. We all know God asks us to pray to release His power among us. We probably all also agree that we do not pray as much as we wish we did. If you believe in Christ, the Holy Spirit of God is within you. The Holy Spirit is our connection to God. We can pray at all times being filled with the power and energy of God. The Letter to the Ephesians teaches us how to live In a Spirit of Prayer.

God's Mission Has A Church

God is at work in this world. God has a mission to save, restore and redeem all of lost creation. What we need to do is figure out what God is doing and try to be a part of it. We talk about the mission of the church but it is more important to remember, it isn’t so much that God has a mission for the church as it is that God has made a church for His mission. God doesn’t exist to serve our mission; the church exists to serve the mission of God. God’s Mission Has a Church.
