No Shame: Standing On Gospel Truth

We are embarking on a year-long walk through Romans. Writing to the church in Rome before coming to visit them, Paul was bold to outline the Christian faith in full form. Why did we need salvation? What did Jesus do to save us? How now will we live? Romans would have been ashamed to accept salvation; they believed in saving themselves through might and perseverance over all enemies and obstacles. The Gospel can make us feel embarrassed. God says things the world does not like to hear. Nevertheless we are not ashamed of the Gospel. The story of what Jesus did to save our souls is the very power of God to save more, the very power of God to change the whole world. There is no shame in standing on Gospel truth.
