"The birth of Jesus Christ is much more than the beginning of a promising life or the first day of a great man. The birth of Jesus Christ is the light of God shining into a darkened world, and not just for a moment, but forevermore. The light of God breaks into the darkness of a sin-sick and broken world. The forces of darkness cannot overtake it. Just like a small candle lights up a dark cavern, no matter how big, the light of Christ shines in our darkness and it will never go out. As the carol sings, “Yet in thy dark streets shineth the Everlasting Light.”
