Of Thee I Sing
First Presbyterian Church is delighted to present Of Thee I Sing: American Soundscapes, featuring music from the Civil War through the civil rights movement. We invite you to experience these poignant moments in American history through music. This concert will feature many of your favorite patriotic pieces, including The Gettysburg Address by Mark Hayes, American Salute by Morton Gould, Lincoln Portrait by Aaron Copland, and some favorite scenes from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. We’ll also highlight music from African American composers such as Moses Hogan and The Montgomery Variations by Margaret Bonds.
