THIS WEEK'S SERMON

Mankind. Imago Dei. Don’t forget, in the first instance we were made good. The world tends to think of Christians as anti-humanistic (haters of humanity). That’s not at all true. We proclaim the initial goodness of humanity made in the image of God. In fact, the Judeo-Christian doctrine of universal humanity in the image of God has done more to drive human rights and tolerance across the face of the globe than any other competing idea. What concerns us is the reality that we are not exactly as we ought to be, and we know it. Something is wrong (we’ll talk about this next week). But when we overemphasize what’s wrong, it overshadows what’s right. We were made beautiful and for a beautiful purpose (JBS, Magnificent, ch. 5).

THE BEAUTIFUL STORY SERIES

Can you find any beauty in 2020? God made the world beautiful. To philosophers, beauty can be a mystery. If you come along with us you will see beauty is the product of a beautiful God telling a beautiful story in a universe filled with awe-inspiring wonders. You too can play a part in The Beautiful Story of the marvelous love of God.
