Humanize Me | Those Who Hunger | Tim McConnell

Humanize Me | Those Who Hunger | Tim McConnell

Aug 25, 2019

Passage: James 2:14

Preacher: Tim McConnell

Series: Humanize Me

Category: Gospel, New Testament

No one can hear the gospel over an empty stomach. Poverty means never eating until full, never going to bed without hunger. We have an overeating problem in the United States; a poverty of being overfed and undernourished. Humanizing is about empowering people to produce their food, and that means more than just distributing rice to another country like Haiti. We need to be thoughtful and creative about how we address food poverty. This matters to God. Jesus fed the 5,000 because they were hungry!

Sometimes people say a public figure needs to be humanized. What could this mean except that there are things in this world that make us less than human? Jesus is on a mission to make you more human—the kind of human who looks more like the Son of God. This series tackles the forces that keep us from being just as human as God always intended us to be. And it leads us to discover that when we are humanized, we get to humanize others.
