The Cross of Christ—A Lenten Experience
WITH WORKS FROM THE CLASSIC BIBLE ART COLLECTION
On loan to First Pres by curator Matt Lockhart, this unique collection of high-quality Bible art was commissioned by Standard Publishing, Cincinnati, Oh., beginning in the early 1900s through the early 1960s. It includes works by more than 50 different artists from Europe and the United States. Matt and his family became the new stewards of the collection in 2015.
People of all ages—whether lifelong followers of Jesus, or those curious about faith—are invited to experience this multi-sensory exhibit. Guide books are provided to lead viewers through a new experience of Stations of the Cross, grounded in Scripture.
The Cross of Christ—A Lenten Experience opens Sunday, March 10 on the second floor near the Sanctuary. It will be open for guided tours Wednesdays 5–7 p.m., and Thursdays 3–5 p.m., from March 13 through April 11.
On Friday, April 5, we're glad to be part of First Fridays Downtown, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Live music will be provided in alternating sets by Callum Ware on piano and Rod Gorby and Scott Barbier in a piano and percussion duo.
