On October 25, you can drop your Commitment Card in the offering box following worship, or personally bring it to our drop-off event that day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Weber Street parking lot where you can also bring Thanksgiving food items (canned fruit, canned corn or green beans, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, boxed or canned potatoes, gravy packets or canned pie filling) to fill care baskets for families in need during the holiday.
This practice of committing money to the work of the Lord in the coming year is really just one way to express our commitment to following Christ in the long obedience. It is effective because money means so much to us and sits so close to our hearts. But it is only a sign and symbol—a partial commitment.
What we really need is to encourage one another to express a full commitment of our very lives to follow Jesus our Lord. Not once, not in the hour, but day after day, year after year, so that when we reach our final breath, we can look back on fields and fields of harvest in the faithfulness of the Lord.
God doesn’t ask us to promise to give. He simply asks us to give. So what’s the card about? It’s part of the rhythm of each year in the life of our church to consider financial giving each fall.
The card is a tool that can help in several ways:
